AAUP-UNH

AAUP-UNH is both an advocacy chapter of the national AAUP, working to maintain academic freedom and an effective role for faculty in the governance of the University, and a union. As the faculty union, AAUP-UNH negotiates with the USNH Board of Trustees all terms and conditions of employment for tenure-track faculty. These include, but are not limited to, salaries and benefits, faculty rights, procedures for promotion and tenure, grievance procedures, and procedures for non-reappointment or dismissal.

Campus Recreation
Provides programs and facilities to support an active lifestyle. ?Campus Recreation has 11 facilities including the Hamel Recreation Center (HRC), the Whittemore Center Arena, Swasey Indoor Pool, College Woods and numerous outdoor fields. Memberships are available to facilities at the UNH Durham Campus - include full access to Group Exercise Classes, Fitness Areas, Outdoor Adventure Trips and Gear Rentals (see website for changes due to Covid-19).

Center for Academic Resources (CFAR)
CFAR is UNH’s learning center for undergraduates on campus, situated on the second floor of Smith Hall. We provide Professional Educational Counselor consultations for students to address academic challenges, reach goals, and find the right support resources on campus. Peer Academic Mentors are available to work 1:1 virtually or in-person teaching study skills, time management, and organizational strategies to help students stay on track. Deep learning strategies, problem-solving, organizational skills,? study tips and tools abound in sessions with staff and Peer Academic Mentors, and in our online tools and resources!

Changemaker Collaborative

The Changemaker Collaborative brings together students, faculty, staff, businesses, non-profits and government agencies committed to advancing?positive change for the good of all. The Collaborative supports the next generation of skilled, courageous and confident leaders, through real-world experiences and the tools of public policy and business, while helping community partners advance their sustainability initiatives.?The Changemaker Collaborative is a partnership of UNH’s Sustainability Institute, the Peter T. Paul College of Business & Economics, and the Carsey School of Public Policy.

We provide support and assistance for all faculty interested in integrating concepts of changemaking into their pedagogy, through class presentations, the Changemaker Speaker Series (pre-readings, videos and follow-up reflection activities available), and incorporation of the NH Social Venture Innovation Challenge (our annual idea competition) into course(s).

Hamel Center for Undergraduate Research
The Hamel Center encourages students to design and carry out research, scholarly, or creative projects in collaboration with faculty mentors. To facilitate this, the Hamel Center offers a variety of competitive research grants and fellowships specifically for undergraduate students.? Research may take place during the academic year, January term, or over the summer, with a wide range of programs available to suit each student's particular needs.

Health & Wellness
Medical care is available to all current UNH/USNH employees and their dependents (18+ years old). Our experienced staff of clinicians can see you for a variety of health concerns, illness or injury – and not just those that might happen at work. We also have onsite Pharmacy, Laboratory, & Radiology Services and offer immunization services.

We provide wellness program for academic classes, presenting on topics such as stress, sleep, wellness, alcohol and other drugs, nutrition and eating concerns, public health issues, etc. through our Living Well Services.

Museum of Art

The Museum will be open August 31, to faculty, students, and the public from Mon., Tues., Wed. and Fri., 12:00–4:00 p.m. Thurs., 12-6:00 p.m. and by appointment for class visits before 12:00 p.m. M–F.?

In-person capacity of the museum is limited to 28 people.

The Museum can also provide live virtual visits for the exhibition and online access to the collection. Virtual visits led by a museum educator last 30-45 minutes and can focus on one or both of our fall exhibitions.

Psychological and Counseling Services (PACS)

PACS is committed to serving UNH’s diverse campus community by providing students with support and education for their personal and academic success through confidential counseling, psychiatric consultation,??outreach and prevention services. PACS also provides consultation for faculty and staff. We are available to consult regarding students of concern, and crisis counseling and urgent consultation is available 24/7 by calling 603-862-2090. Outside of PACS hours crisis counseling and urgent consultation is provided by licensed mental health counselors via Protocall. PACS is also available to provide workshops on mental health literacy, suicide prevention (QPR) and PACS services overviews to your class. To arrange a workshop or presentation email PACS or use the program request form on the Outreach section of the PACS website.

Research and Large Center Development
Research and Large Center Development (RLCD) helps UNH’s research and scholarly community develop strategies and build skills for grant seeking; facilitates development of competitive proposals; coordinates UNH responses to special funding and award programs; and nominates UNH researchers for prestigious external prizes, awards, and appointments. It also supports collaborative research activities to expand UNH’s capacity to pursue major multi- and interdisciplinary research initiatives that garner national and international recognition. UNH’s Collaborative Research Excellence Initiative (CoRE), an annual seed funding initiative to stimulate interdisciplinary collaboration across UNH and with external partners, is implemented by RLCD.

Student Accessibility Services (SAS) provides services to UNH students who have permanent or temporary disabilities, including students with physical or learning disabilities and students with health issues (mental or physical) which impact their UNH experience.?We seek to create a welcoming, universally accessible environment where?all?students are able to participate in the myriad aspects of the UNH experience.
