The Green Ribbon campaign is designed to spread awareness of resources to support student's emotional well-being and mental health and to grow peer support. Students, faculty, and staff can take the pledge to be a mental health advocate by carrying a green ribbon and/or a sticker of a green ribbon around campus. The presence of the ribbon indicates that the individual is able and willing to be supportive of someone having a tough day or who is struggling with significant mental health concerns. The ribbon also indicates that the person carrying the ribbon is aware of available resources on campus and that they are individuals who are ready to listen.
You can begin by simply asking someone……"How are you – Really?”
- Building supportive connections in our community
- Decreasing stigma and de-pathologizing the human experience
- Increasing knowledge of campus resources
- Increasing supportive behaviors by individuals in the community
We are primarily a student led campaign. The idea, effort, and vision for this campaign is shared by NAMI on Campus, PACS, Health & Wellness, the Student Senate, the Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), and the Suicide Prevention Partnership Council.
