ALDA SCIENCE COMMUNICATION EXPERIENCE
Jan. 5 and 6, 2023, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m., in person at UNH. Open to RCA cohort only.

This two-day program immerses participants in the Alda Method and empowers them to use and adapt new communication skills to a wide variety of situations. This is the heart of the RCA.?

CREATING IMPACTFUL POSTERS AND PRESENTATIONS
Feb. 15, 2023, 12:45 – 2 p.m., virtual. Open to RCA cohort and Three Minute Thesis competitors only.

In this session, Zen Faulkes, who’s written the Better Posters blog and Better Posters book, will share tips on how to create and deliver conference posters that deliver maximum impact for your research. Faulkes, a biologist and instructor at McMaster University, will also review and workshop finished or in-progress posters submitted participants.

COMMUNICATING WITH NEWS MEDIA
March 1, 2023, 1 – 2 p.m. Open to all. Virtual.

A reporter calls to talk about your research: Do you know how to respond? In this panel, two news reporters — Concord Monitor reporter and?Granite Geek?columnist David Brooks and freelance science writer?Annie Roth?— along with a UNH veteran of media attention, NH Sea Grant’s?Gabriela Bradt, discuss how to make any news interview a positive experience in communicating your scholarship.

NEW DATE: CREATING IMPACTFUL POSTERS AND PRESENTATIONS

Almost anyone who’s wandered the poster hall at an academic conference or squinted at complex figures in a presentation has thought it: There has to be a better way. From overly long titles, tiny text and swarms of logos to bad font choices, color schemes and blurry images – it’s easy to leave viewers confused by your poster’s message. In this session, Zen Faulkes, who’s written the Better Posters blog and Better Posters book, will share tips on how to create and deliver conference posters that deliver maximum impact for your research. Faulkes, a biologist and instructor at McMaster University, will also review and workshop finished or in-progress posters submitted participants.

PUTTING THE SOCIAL IN SOCIAL MEDIA: CONNECTING AND COLLABORATING TO ADVANCE YOUR RESEARCH
March 10, 2023, 1 – 2 p.m., virtual. Open to all.

Hear from your colleagues — Elizabeth Burakowski, research assistant professor in the Earth Systems Research Center; professor of civil and environmental engineering Paula Mouser; and NH BioMade partner Katherine Mirica, associate professor of chemistry at Dartmouth — about how to use social media to communicate scholarship, connect with collaborators, create a personal learning network and increase the impact of your work.
