Across the World
"Where in the World is Ian MacKay?" As a German and international affairs major, Ian MacKay '16 was required, at minimum, to study abroad for eight weeks. But Ian took it to a new level. He studied in Germany and China and interned at the Cultural Department of the Goethe Institute in Ramallah, West Bank. At UNH, Ian found a vital community of fellow travelers.
Next fall, Ian will travel to Berlin, Germany, on a Fulbright Scholarship to teach English in a school with primarily minority students. He plans on pursuing a graduate degree in international affairs and aims to work in the nonprofit sector.
“I would advise freshmen to take their time adjusting to campus life, and let the ‘perfect’ extracurricular or club come to you!,” says Ian. “Interests will change, and you might develop passions that you never knew about. There is no point in rushing that process because if you rush it, you might miss out on so much.”
