Why did you choose to become a hall director?
During my time as an undergraduate student I always found a passion for being a student leader and really found my niche when I became a residential assistant. I think living on campus is a really important part of the college experience. It is your first time when you truly get to be independent and learn about yourself. I like to help students when they are having difficult times but I also think it is just as important to celebrate the successes and milestones along the way.
I love helping people and always doing something different everyday and being a hall director provides you that.
Why did you choose to work at Res Life at UNH?
UNH has always seemed like home to me as I grew up right around the corner. UNH has a spirit that I have always dreamed of being a part of, whether it is on the fields or in the classroom. While on campus for my RHD interview process everything that was shared resonated with me deeply, I really value student growth and community and immediately felt a sense of belonging on campus. Seeing everyone be dedicated but also have fun while doing it made me feel as though I belonged here.
What advice would you give to students?
My best advice for students attending college is to take every opportunity you have at your fingertips. It’s okay to not like something, but try it first. I’d also say, ask for help, there are a lot of people who want and are willing to help you!
