The U.S. Department of State announced a change to its country Travel Advisory levels. These ratings are no longer automatically correlated with the CDC COVID-19 Travel Health Notice levels. This has triggered a change in many countries’ Travel Advisory Levels.
Accordingly, the UNH International Travel Risk Review Committee has ended the variance to the UNH Travel Policy of allowing student travel to State Department Levels 3 and 4 countries if the Travel Advisory is due to COVID-19 only and there are no additional reasons listed.
Effective immediately, students must follow standing UNH Travel Policy that prohibits student travel and activities, undergraduate and graduate, in countries and areas that the U.S.?Department of State rates?as Level 3: Reconsider Travel or Level 4: Do Not Travel.
Regarding travel to New Zealand, rated Level 3 due to COVID-19-related restrictions, the International Travel Risk Review Committee conducted a risk assessment and approved travel.
Please note, however, the policy variance related to the war in Ukraine remains in place:
Travel is prohibited to all countries bordering Ukraine, except for students currently on programs in Budapest.
