AT Support at UNH

To help students access their education and help faculty ensure their classrooms are accessible,?UNH has a variety of AT supports available. This is not a comprehensive list, but rather some of the most commonly accessed supports.

Assistive Technology Specialist

One of the primary supports is the SAS Assistive Technology Specialist. The AT Specialist can meet with students?to talk about AT supports and how the supports can be utilized in the classroom. Each classroom is a bit different and it can be helpful to think through access proactively. They also can provide access to specific supports like Glean or Smartpens to students who are qualified.

The AT Specialist can also meet with instructors to talk about implementing AT related accommodations in the classroom (captions, accessible educational materials, etc.), as well as?how to?ensure classroom spaces are accessible for students who utilize AT.?

Please note, the AT Specialist does not do thorough AT evaluations or AT equipment loans (SAS does have some limited AT available). These can be done through organizations like ATinNH.?

Notetaking Supports

There are a range of notetaking supports available to approved students. These must be approved by SAS specifically, and access is granted for all students. Importantly, any notetaking support should be paired with effective notetaking strategies. Students who want to learn about notetaking strategies can get in touch with The Center for Academic Resources | Institute for Student Success (unh.edu).

Other Available Supports

Depending on the individual need, additional supports may be available to students.

Students who wish to explore additional AT support should get in touch with SAS.
