The Celebration of Achievement and Excellence: Aulbani J. Beauregard Center for Equity, Justice, and Freedom Graduation Celebration is a pre-commencement celebration. Affinity celebrations, like this one, celebrate perseverance and achievement in the face of historic and ongoing exclusion and marginalization. This event is organized to offer community and to honor the contributions and collective experience and achievements of participating students.?
This celebration was reimagined and established as the?Celebration of Achievement and Excellence?in 2023 by establishing first-generation college graduate recognition, incorporating lavender graduation, and redesigning the Kente Cloth stole to include Adhinkra Symbols. The overhaul also included creating student speaker roles on behalf of each recognition, instead of the historic approach of having faculty or staff speakers, and Diversity support Coalition Student Leader recognition.?
