Kidder Student, Staff, Faculty Award
The Kidder Fund Award seeks to recognize (1) staff member, (1) faculty member and (2) students (undergraduate and graduate) who, through their scholarship, leadership, or outstanding efforts, foster greater understanding of equity and inclusion for the UNH LGBTQ+ community.?

William "Bill" Kidder was an alumnus and staff member of UNH.? The purpose of the Kidder Fund Award is to sponsor efforts that seek to advance opportunities for the LGBTQ+ community, honor the contributions of LGBTQ+ people in our society, and foster AIDS awareness.
Excerpts from previous award recipient nominations:
- The nominee promotes equity and inclusion for the LGBTQ+ population and works to change culture and/or policy within the institution.
- The nominee works to increase visibility of and build a sense of belonging and welcoming community for the LGBTQ+ population.
- The nominee is an educator, and/or scholar who includes material in their curriculum/research that centers the liberation of LGBTQ+ people.
- The nominee has published/presented presentations on issues related to gender identity, gender expression, intersectionality, sexual orientation, and other LGBTQ+ issues.
Award Types:
$1,500 scholarship award for student
$1,000 faculty and staff professional development funding
2024 Pink Triangle Group Award
The Pink Triangle Group Award seeks to recognize groups, whether that be student organizations, offices, units, and/or departments who have advocated on behalf of, and in support of, the LGBTQ+ campus population to engender a more just, equitable, and thriving community at UNH.

Groups considered for nomination have utilized their roles on campus to create a climate of inclusivity, equity, and belonging at UNH for LGBTQ+ people.?? This award was created by the President’s GLBTQ+ Commission and is administered by the Kidder Fund Committee, which serves under the Office of Community, Equity and Diversity.
Kidder Lifetime Achievement Award
The Kidder Lifetime Achievement Award recognizes individuals who have made significant and sustained contributions to the development and/or advancement of LGBTQ+ rights through policy initiatives, leadership, and/or mentoring.? Lifetime Achievement Awards are bestowed to recognize contributions over the whole of an employee’s career, rather than or in addition to single contributions.?

Examples an individual who may embody the Lifetime Achievement Award may include:
- The individual is an innovator who has gone above and beyond their roles and responsibilities of their positions to address LGBTQ+ issues/concerns and advocate for the UNH LGBTQ+ community.?
- The individual contributes to expanding inclusion for LGBTQ+ individuals and creating a stronger, more supportive community for the UNH LGBTQ+ community. ??
- The individual utilizes an intersectional framework in their advocacy and worked to develop connections between LGBTQ+ rights and other identities.
- The individual has been employed in the UNH community (Durham, Manchester, Franklin Pierce School of Law), as a staff member, faculty or administrator for more than 5 years.
Examples of significant, sustained contributions deserving of the Lifetime Achievement Award:
- Advocated for and/or contributed to policy change(s) at UNH that affirm and promote equity for the UNH LGBTQ+ community.
- Founded an affinity group for LGBTQ+ staff and/or faculty and works to sustain it.
- Designed and/or implemented trainings that promote equity and inclusion for the UNH? LGBTQ+ community.
?The Lifetime Achievement Award is an exceptional award and may not be made in all years.
- The committee strongly suggests nominators submit at least 2-3 letters of nomination for their nominee.
- In addition, we ask nominators to be as exhaustive as possible in order to explicate the breadth of the nominee’s work over an extended span of time.
