UNH has launched a new internal funding competition to support interdisciplinary collaborations across campus.
Supported by the Office of the Provost and the Office of the Senior Vice Provost for Research (OSVPR), the Collaborative Research Excellence (CoRE) initiative includes five funding opportunities that will collectively reinforce a broad culture of interdisciplinary exchange, collaboration, planning and support. The funding, which is annual, will support approximately 18 projects each year.
Deadline for proposals is Friday, March 31.
"Research that reaches across traditional academic boundaries is essential to address the grand challenges that face our increasingly complex world."
Building on previous investments by the OSVPR to support interdisciplinary research, CoRE will provide annual or ongoing incentives for faculty to engage in a broad range of interdisciplinary activities through five funding opportunities:
- Interdisciplinary Working Groups with up to $10,000 per working group for projects lasting one year
- Pilot Research Partnerships with seed funding of up to $25,000 per project for one year
- Strengthening Existing Centers with up to $50,000 for one year (must be matched 1:1)
- Creating New Centers with up to $200,000 for two years (must be matched 1:1)
- Supporting Large, Complex Proposal Development with up to $100,000 per project (must be matched by a minimum of 25 percent)
“A deep commitment to interdiscipinarity is one of the visions outlined in UNH’s strategic plan, and funding agencies are increasingly seeking compelling cross-disciplinary projects to support,” says Jan Nisbet, senior vice provost for research. “But perhaps most importantly, research that reaches across traditional academic boundaries is essential to address the grand challenges that face our increasingly complex world.”
For more information on CoRE, contact Mark Milutinovich, director of large center development, or register here to attend a Lunch-and-Learn session about CoRE on March 1.
