Anthony Galdieri JD ’08 was the recipient of a pair of significant honors this summer, as he was selected as the New Hampshire Bar Foundation’s 2016 Robert E. Kirby Award winner, and was also named the winner of Nixon Peabody’s 4th Annual Pro Bono Attorney of the Year Award.

The?Robert E. Kirby Award?was established in Kirby’s honor in 1996 and is given annually to an “attorney 35 years old or younger who demonstrates the traits of civility, courtesy, perspective and excellent advocacy,” according to the New Hampshire Bar Foundation website. Gordon MacDonald, a partner at Nixon Peabody, described the achievement as “a tremendous honor.”

UNH Law graduates have taken home two of the last three Kirby awards, as Galdieri joins fellow alum Julian Jefferson, the 2014 recipient.

“New Hampshire is a collegial bar and this award is more recognition of how Anthony makes a difference in a professional, caring way,” said John Garvey, UNH Law Professor and Director of the Daniel Webster Scholar (DWS) Honors Program.

Galdieri, a graduate of the DWS program, was chosen by Nixon Peabody’s Pro Bono Committee as the recipient of the Pro Bono Attorney of the Year Award after completing more than 240 pro bono hours in 2015.

Nixon Peabody has more than 650 attorneys working in offices located around the world. Among his pro bono work in 2015, Galdieri, who is employed at the Manchester, N.H. location, helped a disabled veteran find new housing following a wrongful eviction claim, and assisted another veteran in reversing a conviction related to a driving offense.

He also represented the New Hampshire Civil Liberties Union in front of the New Hampshire State Supreme Court in a tortious interference lawsuit brought by the city of Keene, N.H.

"When you consider a firm of this size and breadth, this is a remarkable accomplishment,” Garvey said. “Anthony exemplifies the Webster Scholar mission of being client-ready."

As part of the recognition, Nixon Peabody will make a donation to the charity of Galdieri’s choice in his honor.

“We are thrilled to honor Anthony for his tremendous public service work in the state of New Hampshire. His commitment and ability make him a worthy recipient of this significant recognition,” MacDonald said. “His performance was noteworthy among a crowd of talented attorneys, and Nixon Peabody is proud to recognize Anthony’s accomplishments.”
