Last year UNH established a?three-year energy efficiency partnership?with Eversource, the first of its kind among New Hampshire colleges and universities.?The partnership anticipates saving 3 to 4% of energy purchased and cutting carbon dioxide emissions by more than 1100 tons.
?Despite COVID, UNH has remained focused on cost and energy savings and has successfully completed several energy efficiency projects with Eversource. This month the team wrapped up installation of comprehensive digital lighting controls in the UNH Telecom facility, and in Parsons Hall air change reduction is being integrated into the SmartStack technology system that monitors lab exhaust air. These updates are the latest completed projects that include:
- Horton Hall: Building system updates that improve air flow, ventilation, heating, and cooling
- Wastewater Treatment Plant: Motors for exhaust fans, interior and exterior lighting, and HVAC equipment
- Adams Tower and New England Center: Variable frequency drives for heating water
- Elliott Alumni Center: Lighting, heating, and cooling updates are complete
- Whittemore Center Arena: A new dehumidification system has been installed to ensure that the dew point of the air in the rink will be kept low and close to the ice surface temperature.
