UNH Mailing Services offers everything to meet your mailing needs—whether you're sending a few simple postcards or hundreds of glossy catalogs. By consulting with us first, we can potentially save you headaches and money.

All mail received by Mailing Services is mailed first-class rate or priority, depending on weight, unless otherwise stated.

Mail Piece Design

  • Consult with Mailing Services first to ensure the design will conform to regulations, be timely and cost-effective.?
  • Size, weight, and design can affect its suitability for mailing.?
  • Or, use the USPS Postal Explorer to search for answers to your mailing standards questions. Type "mailability standards" into the search field and review the list of documents pertaining to standards will appear.

Preparation Services?

  • High-speed ink jet addressing.?
  • Machine inserting/hand inserting.?

  • Online order forms are required as they are the most efficient way to submit a request to Mailing Services.

Qualify for Standard Mail Rate (formally bulk rate)

  • Send us your mail list prior to you addressing your mailing. Per USPS requirements all list need to be run through NCOA (National Change of Address) to qualify for standard mailing rates. ?There is a charge of .02 per piece for this process and a .04 charge per piece, once we receive the mailing back, to verify the mailing is indeed in zip code order.
  • Indicate that your mailing is standard.
  • Have at least 200 identical pieces of mail.
  • Organize the mailing numerically low to high according to zip code.
  • Include a postage account number on the envelope or on an attached card to the mailing.?
  • Delivery address must be on the line immediately above the city, state, and zip. U.S. Post Office (USPS) mail sorting machines read the address from the bottom up. If there is a dual address (i.e., a street address and a PO Box), the piece will be delivered to the first address listed.
  • Standard mail is not sealed against postal inspection. ?

Postal Service Endorsement System

  • Specifies how to deal with undeliverable mail that you send. Some of these actions have fees associated with them.
  • Address service requested: Mail is forwarded or returned depending on how long the old address has been invalid. Separate notice of the new address is provided.
  • Forwarding service requested: Same as address service requested except the notice of the new address is provided only with return.
  • Change service requested: Separate notice of new address or reason for non-delivery provided. Mail disposed of by USPS.
  • Return service requested: Mail returned with new address or reason for non-delivery attached.

Registered and Certified Mail?

  • Both provide proof of mailing time, date and time of delivery and attempted delivery, and, if requested, a receipt confirming delivery.?
  • Registered mail is the most secure method. Items sent by registered mail may be insured.

Insured Mail?

  • Provides insurance against loss or damage up to $5,000 based on the item’s value. ?

U.S. Postal Service

  • USPS offers overnight domestic and international express mail service 365 days a year. Packages must use an express mail label and weight no more than 70 pounds. Express envelopes are available from Mailing Services. This service may be used for delivery to post office boxes and is guaranteed.

FedEx

  • Federal Express offers overnight delivery by 10:30 a.m. to most US addresses; by noon or 4:30 p.m. in remote areas, Monday through Friday. Saturday service available for additional charge. Envelopes are available from Mailing Services.?
  • Should not be used when mailing to a Post Office Box.

UPS

  • United Parcel Service next-day air features fast, reliable delivery to all 50 states and Puerto Rico and guarantees delivery by 10:30 a.m., noon, or end of day the next business day, depending on destination. Noon or 1:30 p.m. on Saturdays. Envelopes are available from Mailing Services.?
