Dear Members of the University Community—
The university has been working to comply with the federal COVID-19 vaccine requirement to ensure we don’t jeopardize the federal government contracts that are so critical to our research, teaching and economic engagement missions. To everyone who is vaccinated, thank you.
A recent court ruling now prevents federal agencies from enforcing a?vaccine requirement in all states and territories of the United States.?That means?that while we encourage everyone to consider vaccination when permitted by religious beliefs and medical conditions, it is?not currently?required of anyone in the university community. This is a quickly evolving situation, however, that could change again. The court ruling is a preliminary, or temporary, ruling and we anticipate there will be further developments between now and Jan. 4, 2022, the deadline to receive a vaccination or apply for an accommodation.
We continue to closely monitor developments and will continue to prepare for compliance while holding off on enforcement until legally compelled to do so. We will continue to communicate with our community on this important issue.
