Silence fell across the room as the lights dimmed and frames of dense jungle scenes flashed across the big screen.
“Coral Reef of Laughing Bird Caye” debuted Thursday during UNH Manchester’s Cinema Arts Day, an Undergraduate Research Conference (URC) event showcasing student films, scripts and audio productions. Produced by biological sciences students Kerri Cobb ’17 and Lauren Iannazzi ’19, the film documents their trip to Belize with the Global Science Explorations class.
Communication arts majors Chris Hale ’17 and Hunter MacDowell ’18 presented “Scrambled Eggs,” a dark yet comedic short film in which a man’s breakfast preparation brings forth the reality of his failed marriage.
Fellow communication arts student Kyle Sanborn ’18 also took a comedic route with his film “iPod Retro,” parodying an Apple promotional video for an outdated yet outrageously expensive device.
Cinema Arts Day also featured students’ documentary-style films, such as aprofile of local comedian Nicholas Lavallee by?Christopher Perez '18 and an interview with a female semi-professional skateboarder by Trenton Gobel '19.
UNH Manchester’s URC concludes Friday with the engineering technology senior project presentations. Stop by rooms 201, 142 and 146 at the Pandora Mill between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. to check out what seniors in the electrical and mechanical engineering technology programs have been working on throughout the year.
