Aid You Don't Have to Pay Back

Scholarships and grants are types of aid that do not need to be repaid. While grants are often need-based, scholarships are more likely to be merit-based. Both are offered through a wide variety of sources, from the federal government to state governments, colleges, private corporations and nonprofit organizations.

Grants

A variety of grants are available to students.

FEDERAL PELL GRANTS

Available to undergraduate students with exceptional financial need.

FEDERAL SUPPLEMENTAL EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITY GRANTS (SEOG)

Available to undergraduate students who demonstrate exceptional need.

UNH RESIDENT & NON-RESIDENT TUITION GRANTS

UNH need-based funds for undergraduate students. These awards can change from year to year based on income changes or other variables.

UNIVERSITY OPPORTUNITY GRANTS

Need-based awards granted to incoming freshmen who demonstrate through their admission application materials an appreciation and/or understanding of the values and significance of diversity for our society and culture.

ATHLETIC GRANTS-IN-AID

Available to student-athletes on an intercollegiate team. The head coach of each sport chooses recipients and the amount of the award in consultation with the director of athletics. Contact the head coach of your sport.

Work-Study Jobs

Federal funds provide job opportunities to undergraduate and graduate students on and off campus.

Aid You Have to Pay Back

The majority of students who apply to UNH are eligible to receive Federal Student Loans.

For undergraduate students, Parent PLUS Loans and private education loans also are available.

Graduate and professional students have access to additional loan programs.
