Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship

For undergraduate students who are receiving a Pell grant to study abroad. Additional funding available for students who intend to study a Critical Language or pursue undergraduate research while abroad.

Deadline: March and October annually 

Value: Up to $5,000 for study abroad/ $3,000 more for students studying a critical need language/ $1,000 STEM research supplemental.

Eligibility: U.S. citizenship; Must be receiving a Federal Pell Grant. Study abroad program must be a faculty-led, exchange, or partner program or must be approved through the one-time approval petition process (note programs must be 4 weeks or longer to qualify for petition). You must meet with your Global Education advisor prior to applying.

Gilman-McCain Scholarship

The Gilman-McCain Scholarship provides awards of $5,000 for child and spousal dependents of active or activated United States military personnel during the time of application (including Air Force, Air Force Reserve, Air National Guard, Army, Army National Guard, Army Reserve, Coast Guard, Coast Guard Reserve, Marine Corps, Marine Corps Reserve, Navy, Navy Reserve, Space Force, NOAA Commissioned Corps, and USPHS Commissioned Corps) to study or intern abroad on credit-bearing programs.

Eligibility: U.S. citizenship; dependent (child or spouse) of active or activated US military personnel during the time of application; recipient of any type of Title IV federal financial aid
